    7. When trying to launch the CD I get a message "Error opening file".

This error indicates that the Folio Bound Views software cannot follow the shortcut path to the LexisNexis CD to launch the product. Please ensure that the CD is in the correct drive i.e. the drive which the CD was in when the product was installed. If the CD is in place, please ensure that it is not scratched or dirty. You can also check the properties of the shortcut icon that you use to launch the product and at the end of the Command (Win3.x) or Target (Win95/98/NT/XP) Line after "-i" you will see the current path to the CD, please amend this if it has changed. If this does not resolve the problem please email Electronic Helpline at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    8. When accessing a link on the CD I get a message "Publisher has limited the number of users...".

By default, our CDs are shipped with a single user or one concurrent user license for the publications which they contain. If you have purchased a license with more than one user, please email Electronic Helpline at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz to have access unlocked for the appropriate amount of users. If the number of concurrent users is correct and you are running the CD on a network, it is possible that someone at another workstation still has the product open; simply close down their session and try accessing the link again.

    9. When trying to launch the CD I get a message "Clock has been altered".

Please check to see that the computer you are running the CD on (or the server on which the Folio Bound VIEWS software is running) has the correct date and time. Adjust to correct if necessary and if that does not resolve the problem please email Electronic Helpline at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    10. When performing the updating procedure I get a message "Error#6 overflow in update procedure".

This is to do with lack of system memory. There may be one or more applications open in the background when trying to update. Close all other programs and reboot if necessary and then perform the updating procedure again.

    11. When trying to launch the CD I get a message "Library must reside on writeable media".

The 'library' being referred to is not the information on the CD but security files that Folio uses to run the product. You need to ensure that the directory where Folio is installed (usually a directory called BWORTH or BWNET) has full read and write permission access for those users that are using the LexisNexis CDs.
Contact your internal computer department if you're not sure how to do this.

    12. When trying to use the CD I get a message "Cannot run 16 bit application".

You may encounter this on a Windows NT operating system. Please ensure that the latest Service Packs have been applied on the computer which is running the Folio software.
Contact your internal computer department if you're not sure how to do this.

    13. When trying to launch the CD I get a message "Device not ready".

Please ensure that the CD is in the correct drive ie the drive which the CD was in when the product was installed. If the CD is in place, please ensure that it is not scratched or dirty.

    14. When clicking on a link from the CD main page a box appears looking for an NFO file.

The Folio software is looking for the location of the Infobase which contains the information for the hypertext link you have selected. Please look in the directory where Folio is installed (usually LEXISNEXIS) locate a file called lname.ini and open that file by double-clicking on it. Check that the path name for the InfoBase is correct. If this does not resolve the problem, please email Electronic Helpline at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    15. When launching Unreported Judgments Disk 3 the error appears "InfoBase control not found in the library".

Place the Unreported Judgments Disk 3 CD in the drive and open Publications Manager or Network Publications Manager (whichever one you used to install the product). Ensure that Unreported Judgments Disk 3 appears under the column 'Publications already installed'. Click in the circle next to the title and then click on 'Uninstall Title'. When prompted confirm that you wish to uninstall the title and then when completed, reinstall the title again, close out of Publications Manager and launch the product.

    16. When trying to install the CD on my standalone machine a message appears "More than one CD drive has been found".

Folio has found more than one CD drive on your computer (after you have attempted to run setup.exe) so you will need to run nwsetup.exe and follow the network installation instructions, even if you are installing the product on a standalone PC. A copy of the network installation instructions can be found here.

    17. The search button with the LexisNexis logo which use to appear on my Folio toolbar is no longer there.

Often the required files in Windows to display the search button have not loaded properly. Please reboot your computer and if that does not resolve the problem, please email Customer Service at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    18. When trying to update or use the CD the message appears "Please insert a valid LexisNexis CD in the drive".

Please ensure that the LexisNexis CD is in the correct drive ie the drive which the CD was in when the product was installed. If the CD is in place, please ensure that it is not scratched or dirty. If this does not resolve the problem, please email Electronic Helpline at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    19. During the installation or updating procedure I get the message "Runtime error 9, subscript out of range".

This usually means that a standalone installation has been performed but the CD_ROM drive where the LexisNexis CD resides is not (or no longer) designated as D:\ . In this case the product will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled following the Network Installation Instructions. A copy of the Network Installation Instructions can be obtained here. If you need assistance in uninstalling the product please email Customer Service at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz

    20. I'm trying to run Casebase for Windows (not the Folio based version) and get the message "The information on this InfoBase is out of date".

The CD which you are using is out of date or the copy of the CD which you may have made on a network directory is also from an old CD. Please email Customer Service at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz to arrange a replacement copy of the latest version of Casebase if required.

    21. I have just launched Casebase and clicked on the search button and a message appears "Unable to open LexisNexis Query Template".

After launching Casebase, you actually need to be within the Casebase product before performing a search; it cannot be performed from the main starting page. Please click on the hyperlink "Casebase" and then perform your search from there.

    [Top]

    22. I'm trying to install the CD and a message appears "Unable to create %s".

The CD installation program is unsuccessfully trying to copy files into a temporary directory which is specified in the autoexec.bat file on your computer. Please check the autoexec.bat file and look for a line similar to SET TEMP = C:\TEMP and ensure that the directory named actually exists. Create a directory of the same name if it is missing.
