FAQ - LexisNexis Online

  1. How do I apply for a trial of the LexisNexis Online service?
  2. I haven't yet received my user name and password for the LexisNexis Online service.
  3. I've forgotten my password.
  4. My logon details do not appear to work, are they case-sensitive?
  5. I would like to change my password to the LexisNexis Online service.
  6. I'm trying to logon but keep getting some type of proxy error.
  7. I'm at my Welcome page and have clicked on one of the hyperlinks and a message says "You have tried to access a product to which you do not subscribe".

2. I haven't yet received my user name and password for the Online service.

Please send an email to customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz asking for the status of your application.

4. My logon details do not appear to work, are they case-sensitive?

No, neither the user name nor password are case-sensitive. If you have changed your password and cannot remember the details, please e-mail customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz or call 0800 800 986 and select option 1.

5. I would like to change my password to the Online service.

Once you have logged into the Online service, Please click on the "Preferences" tab. Click on the "Change my security settings” link and you will be taken to a new window which provides instructions on how to change your password.

6. I'm trying to logon but keep getting some type of proxy error.

When you bring up the user name and password box when attempting to logon, if you are using Internet Explorer, ensure that the address bar references LexisNexis Online (http://www.lexisnexis.com/nz/legal). If you do not see these details, you are more than likely being asked to enter user name and password details for your own internal network. Please contact your organisations IT department and explain the problem you are having to them.

7. I am attempting to search a source in either New Zealand Compendium or clicking on a link in a publication that I access in Lexisnexis Online but I get the error message: "You have tried to access a product to which you do not subscribe".

Please ensure that the link you are trying to access is one which you have trial access to or one which you subscribe to. If you are not sure of your current subscriptions, please contact either your LexisNexis Account Manager or Customer Service at customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz for details.

8. I've gone into the contents section of one of your libraries and the title of the library appears at the top with a plus sign next to it and nothing else (e.g. +* NZ Unreported Judgements).

Simply click once on the link in blue below named “+ View Combined Sources” plus sign and the tree of contents will expand showing you all the souces within the combined source.

9. When I try to open a Word document from LexisNexis Online, I get an error message or nothing will download.

Your office network may not allow downloads of files from the Internet. If you see a yellow bar across the top of the page, usually you will be able to right click on this and allow downloads. Your network administrator may have to enable this option for you. If you require assistance please call the LexisNexis Customer Service on 0800 800 986.
