New Zealand Law Awards
The New Zealand Law Awards is the only event in New Zealand that celebrates and rewards outstanding examples of excellence in client service by law firms, barristers and in-house legal teams as judged by their clients, rather than relying upon a subjectively appointed panel of judges (thereby providing lawyers with the best possible feedback).
The New Zealand Law Awards™ is organised by the NZLawyer magazine, a fortnightly independent news magazine for the New Zealand legal profession that is published by LexisNexis. The New Zealand Law Awards was first introduced in 2005 and is hosted by NZLawyer in partnership with its awards partners; the Corporate Lawyers Association of New Zealand (CLANZ), the National Business Review (NBR) and NZLawyer’s sister publication in Australia, the Lawyers Weekly.
In 2005, the New Zealand version of the “Law Awards” splashed onto the legal scene causing a mixture of excitement and controversy amongst members of the New Zealand legal profession and its clients.
Fortunately, despite the controversy, the awards voting process attracted thousands and thousands of clients drawn from within the corporate, public and private sector across New Zealand and that has continued to be the case to date. The experience over the past five years indicates there is strong support amongst law firms and their clients for the continuation of the awards on the annual legal profession’s calendar.
