Lexis.com is our international legal research database. It enables you to access both primary and secondary legal sources from around the globe, including cases, legislation, law reviews, treaties, legal directories, practice guides and constitutions.
We have listed a few tips and tricks below to facilitate your research within Lexis.com:
- A useful place to find journal articles on a particular topic is the Index to Legal Periodicals.
- To find this on the Legal subtab, go to the Secondary Legal section.
- Click on Law Reviews & Journals, then click on Index to Legal Periodicals and begin your search.
- When you have submitted a search, use the Focus Terms field on the Results page to narrow your search further - without being charged anything extra.
- When you are using the Focus Terms field, if you want to restrict your search to a particular document segment (e.g. you want to search for cases decided in a particular court), go to the Advanced link and use this form to restrict your search without accruing any extra costs.
- To print off a case, without being charged, use the print option from your browser window.
- If you want to copy a section of text or a quote, highlight the text you wish to copy and then click on Copy w/ Cite this will then copy the text and add the source citation underneath.
