SUMMING UP | 500th Issue | 2007 - 2021

Kia ora koutou katoa,

Today we are celebrating the 500th issue of the Summing Up newsletter. On behalf of all of us at LexisNexis New Zealand, we would like to thank you for your continued loyalty. Innovation within the legal industry has evolved so much since the first issue of this newsletter 14 years ago. Last year’s lockdowns highlighted the technical agility of some practices as they moved from the law office to the home office, while accelerating creative strategies for the digitisation of the courts to address existing and impending backlogs. Diversity has also played a significant role in the way the legal industry has progressed. Women now represent 51% of the New Zealand legal profession, in 2019 the first appointed Māori Supreme Court Justice, the Honourable Justice Joseph Williams took the bench, and great strides are being taken in the conversation to incorporate te Reo and Tikanga Māori into the legal process for a more bi-cultural and balanced approach to the law. Our legal industry shows no signs of slowing down, and we look forward to continuing to provide the tools to help you navigate these changes in the years to come.

Over the next few issues, you will hear from business leaders within LexisNexis New Zealand, discussing how we too have evolved in how we deliver commentary, practical tools and resources designed to complement the way you practise the law.

Ngā mihi mahana.
