Q1. What is an eBook?
Also known as an electronic book, it is a digital version of a book that can be read on personal computers or on mobile eReader devices such as the iPad.

Q2. How do I read an eBook?
eBooks can be read on iPads, personal computers, Macs and some smart-phones. To read LexisNexis eBooks you will need to download Bluefire REader for the iPad or Adobe Digital Editions for your personal computer.

Please note that you can only download your eBook to two devices. For example if you receive your eBook link on your PC but want to download your eBook to your iPad, open the link on your iPad.

LexisNexis eBooks are not compatible with the Amazon Kindle eReader, Mac OS X operating systems, MacBook Air, Kobo eReader, and Microsoft Surface. See the next questions [Q3 What is an eBook reader?] for more information on free eReader software.

Q3. What is an eBook reader?
An eBook reader is the software you use to read your eBook. You may need to download eBook reader software to your device or computer to read your eBook.

Q4. How do I purchase a LexisNexis eBook?
LexisNexis eBooks are available for purchase through our LexisNexis online store
(visit www.lexisnexis.co.nz/store), or by calling our customer service team on 0800 800 986. You can also purchase 'e+Book Packs' (hard copy and eBook) via our online store and through some campus bookshops.

For purchase via the LexisNexis online store:
1. Select the eBook publication of your choice.
2. Click 'Add to Cart'. If you would like to buy other eBooks or products, click 'Continue Shopping' and add other products to your cart.
3. When you've completed your shopping, click
'Proceed to Secure Checkout'.
4. Complete the required payment and billing information.
5. After purchasing your eBook, you will receive two emails. The first email will be your purchase confirmation. The second email will be the link to your eBook. (eBooks will be fulfilled in one to two business days.)

Q5. How often can I gain access to my eBook?
Once you have loaded an eBook onto a device, you can access it as many times as you like.

Q6. How many devices can I load my eBook onto?
You can download your eBook to two devices only.

Q7. Can I copy, paste and print my eBook?
Yes, you can copy and paste text from your eBook up to 6 pages at a time. After copying and pasting you will accrue ad additional page every 4 hours, capped at a maximum of 6 pages until you copy and paste again.

You can print up to 24 pages at a time. After printing, you will accrue an additional page every hour, capped at a maximum of 24 pages until you print again.

Q8. What does DRM mean?
Digital Rights Management (DRM) is used to ensure that a specific copy of an eBook is licensed to one individual. This ensures that copyright laws are respected and that authors and publishers are fairly compensated. An individual is licensed to use that eBook, but may not share it with others.

Q9. Will LexisNexis add more eBook titles to the online bookstore?
LexisNexis will progressively publish a selection of existing titles as eBooks. We will also publish all new book titles in hard copy and eBook formats. Search the LexisNexis online store for our eBook offering.

Q10. What functionality is available for eBooks?
eBook functionality, such as page turning, searching and making notes, varies with the eReader software.

Please note that within your eBook:

a. If you click on an external URL, access to the site will be dependent on the functionality of your reading device.
b. LexisNexis has included the original page numbers of the hard copy version in your eBook. They appear on the top of the page. The eReader will also display page numbers that are generated by the eReader itself.

Q11. How do I retrieve lost data or a lost device?

Q12. Examples of technical issues.

I cannot download the necessary software.
You may need IT approval to download or install Adobe Digital Editions.

I did not receive my eBook link.
If you have not received any emails from LexisNexis online store, be sure to check your junk mail and spam filter. Please allow for one to two business days for your eBook order to be fulfilled.

An error occurred when I opened my eBook.
Please take note of the error code where relevant and the application that caused the error. Take a screenshot too, if possible, and email to: customer.service@lexisnexis.co.nz. Please keep in mind that you many only open your
eBook on two devices; we cannot resolve issues relating to opening your eBook on a third device.

My eBook no longer appears on my PC or Mac.
Please check within ~\my documents\my digital editions or ~\Documents\Digital Editions. If there is an ePub file within this folder with the corresponding name please open it.
