The New Zealand Law Journal (NZLJ) is the only journal in New Zealand that carries in-depth articles on the whole range of legal issues published in a timely and up-to-date manner. NZLJ reports developments in the law and law-related affairs quickly, accurately and in depth. How to contribute
The NZLJ is a peer-edited journal. Selected articles may also be refereed by a third party at the Editor’s discretion. We require exclusive submission as articles are published within a relatively short time-frame. We will consider a New Zealand-oriented and shortened version of an academic article accepted elsewhere (with the permission of the other journal).
Authors are welcome to contact the Editor at any time to discuss potential submissions.
Submission Guidelines
Emailed submissions are preferred and should be sent as a Word document to brenda.midson@lexisnexis.co.nz.
Submitted articles should:
- Comply with the New Zealand Law Style Guide;
- Include all references in the body of the text (not in footnotes);
- Use no more than two levels of headings; and
- Be no longer than 5,500 words without prior agreement from the Editor (shorter pieces are welcome)

It provides a reliable statement of the whole of the law of New Zealand - statutory, regulatory, and judicial. It is a comprehensive source of primary comment required by practitioners and academics alike.
