Law Reform Team

Wellington Community Justice Project

About

Wellington Community Justice Project is a student-led charity in Victoria University of Wellington's Law School.

The organisation was founded in 2010. It aims are:

To improve access to justice in the community and New Zealand To give law students opportunities to develop their legal skills The Law Reform Team works to ensure that New Zealand's legislative changes and policy developments are reflective of the wider community. Since our inception, we have participated in discussions on issues before Parliament's select committees. We also work with Adoption Action and animal welfare groups in their campaigns to change the law.

A further goal of the Law Reform Team is to improve the accessibility of the law and improve public awareness of current legal and policy issues. In pursuit of this goal, we began our relationship with LexisNexis on its Social Justice platform in 2017. In 2018 we launched a new magazine, which looks at contemporary issues in law reform.
